•    June 2000 till date: Faculty Member at The Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
•    2 years with Jasubhai Digital Media as Group Art Director of  various publications including CHIP, Digit, CHIP specials, CHIP Hindi, Computer Reseller News, Network Computing, Computer Gaming World etc.
•    1 year with Intelligent Investor, India’s first personal finance magazine, from the publishers of Outlook.
•    1 year and six months with The Indian Express (Madurai) group. Art Director for magazines - Gentleman and Biznet.
•    3 years with The Independent, The Metropolis on Saturday and Bombay Times, a part of The Times of India group . Also contributed for various publications from Times Group including Femina, Illustrated Weekly, Sunday Times etc.
•    Graphic artist with Doordarshan, Trivandrum.

Introducing text for conferences and events:

G. V. Sreekumar is Professor and former Head of IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay.
His areas of specializations include Typography, Calligraphy, Publication Design, Information Graphics, Design Pedagogy and Visual semantics.

After graduation in BFA Applied Art from M.S. University, Baroda, Prof Sreekumar completed his Master of Design in Visual Communication at IDC, IIT Bombay. Under the guidance of renowned Typographer and Calligrapher Prof R.K. Joshi, at IIT Bombay, he specialised on Typography, Publication Design and Information Graphics.
Since 2000 he has been a faculty member at IDC, IIT Bombay as well as a Design consultant with many corporate houses. Before joining his alma mater IIT Bombay, Sreekumar was an Art Director, Illustrator and Information graphics designer.

Prof. Sreekumar has also worked for several publication houses including the The Times of India Group, Indian Express Group, Jasubhai Digital Media etc. He has designed some of the most renowned magazines in India including CHIP, Digit, Chandamama, Overdrive, Society, Savvy, CTO forum, Banking Frontiers etc. 

He also conducts design workshops for designers of various corporate houses as a part of CEP- Continuing Education Program of IIT Bombay.

Prof Sreekumar is the founder of Typography Society of India.

In 2021, Prof Sreekumar was appointed as “Institute Chair Professor” in IIT Bombay.

 

He is a visiting faculty member at several reputed institutes including National Institute of Design (NID), IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University; Vadodara, Delhi Technological University, MIT Pune; IIIT Jabalpur, Kerala State Institute of Design (KSID) etc .
He is also a member of  Board of studies of several universities in India.

Prof Sreekumar is the chairperson of the National Focus Group committee on “Publication of Quality Textual & Non-textual materials”,  of NCERT.

Prof. Sreekumar has mentored generations of design students, including the prodigiously talented Prof. D. Udaya Kumar, (IIT Guwahati) - designer of the Indian rupee sign (₹) and Prof. Girish Dalvi (IDC, IIT Bombay), who designed the Ek Devanagari, Ek Latin, and Ek Mukta fonts.

Prof. Sreekumar is considered an expert not only in the fields of Design and Design Education, but also in the new field he created at IDC, IIT Bombay :  "H-H-I"- Human Human Interaction, which focuses on the humanitarian aspects of everyday life.
